ESPACE DE MEMOIRE is a project by Antonios Panagopoulos, initiated in 1985 and continuously evolving since then. In 1988, the artist composed a philosophical text that articulates the generative foundation of his work. From that point on, he adopted language as a primary tool of his art and translated the text into all the languages of the world. This process is not regarded as a mere translation of content, but as a lived imprint of each culture.
Memory, a fundamental element of his artistic approach, functions as light that contends with oblivion, darkness, and determines the fragment of space-time to be revealed. His artistic vision is to transfer an image of his ideal world into the objective one, while at the same time highlighting the bonds that unite people.
